About
Tim Zwolak
Full stack web developer. Denver, Colorado.
I'm a full stack web developer based in Denver. I've been writing software professionally for over a decade, currently as a Senior Platform Engineer at Ibotta.
Before Ibotta I was at Xentity as a Geospatial Developer on GeoPlatform.gov — Angular, Node, AWS, and a lot of ISO 19115 metadata. That's where I picked up most of what I know about GIS and map tile pipelines, and it's still the part of the job I like best. Before that, a few years at FJA-US on a TypeScript/React frontend backed by a Java/Spring API. Earlier than that, Charter Communications, and an IT contract supporting a laboratory information system for the Michigan Department of Community Health.
I'm a career switcher — undergrad was biochemistry at Michigan State. The lab work didn't stick; the scripting around it did. Outside of the day job, I'm a licensed amateur radio operator (FCC Extra class) and I spend a lot of weekends hiking up peaks for Summits on the Air. Most of my side projects end up being maps of one kind or another.
